To be at the top of the world and having their lives together is everyone’s dream. However sometimes it can be pretty difficult to handle everything at once and look like you’re at the top of your game. Even when you are not perfect, it feels nice to at least look perfect. This is why this list was compiled. It will give you an idea on how to look elegant and classy every day. Here are 20 things you should always keep in mind:
No matter what you’re wearing or how you’ve done your makeup, it will always be confidence that will bring out the elegance and class in you. Walk and talk proudly and own your look. The confidence in you will be the stamp of your outfit.
2. Refresh Yourself
If you have to spend a long time of the day outside your house then I would advise you to carry stuff that can help you refresh yourself. A person gets tired, and even if he/she doesn’t, the face and the body are unconsciously tired and start to look that way. (Remember, your brain is not visible to others, but your face and body are).
Therefore, I would advise you to carry a setting spray for makeup and wet wipes if you can. A splash of water can solve a lot of problems for you. A tiny spray bottle of perfume wouldn’t be too bad either.
You must always maintain a proper, straight posture to look elegant and classy. A slouching or a hunched posture might give the impression that you are tired or lazy, and elegant and decent looks are never supposed to be viewed in a negative light. Therefore it is recommended that you keep a straight back and firm shoulders, with you head not too high nor too low
Side not: This will not only help you in looking classy but ill also avoid health and back problems.
Hair is one of the most of the most vital things to consider in order to pull off your look. You must not, under any circumstances tie a bun or leave them open in an untangled manner. If you’re leaving your hair loose, you should make sure they are brushed and look decent. Otherwise it is best that you tie them in a ponytail or a braid or pin them in an appropriate manner, such that they don’t fall on your face.
Bangs are an appropriate option only and only if they don’t cover your face. If they cover only your forehead then they are considered okay as well.
Many people think that fingernails aren’t really a proper aspect to consider while grooming yourself, but it is very important. You should always have neat, filed and manicured nails. I would that they’re not too long however, if you wish to grow them, make sure you keep them clean.
As far as nail art or nail color is concerned, nothing to fancy should be done. Glittery nail polish and again, bold colors are not recommended. If you wish to go for a nail color, go for grey or more neutral or matte shades.
Makeup is one of the most important points to consider when going for an elegant and classy look. It should never be too dark!
A light touch of bronze eye-shadow or no eye shadow, with an eyeliner is perfect eye makeup if you want to go for it. A nude shade or a light shade of red or pink lipstick is spot-on. However, you should never opt for bold colors like blue, green, or even fuchsia for lips for an elegant look. A BB cream containing SPF is recommended, or even sunscreen but it should be natural and should not have full coverage. Hence, your look is complete.
7. Accessories – Watches
Watches look really professional and elegant, however if you’re wearing a watch, I would ask you to lose the bracelet as both the things makes your appearance a bit tacky.
Start with a watch that fits your wrist and doesn’t hang loose. The dial shouldn’t be too large or too tiny, no matter your wrist size, the dial is advised to be medium in size. A silver or aspen silver watch can do wonders to your outfit.
8. Accessories – Jewelry
To pull of an elegant and classy style every day you must use jewelry that is decent and not too distractive and large. The best you can do is wear statement jewelry or something you can pull off with almost everything.
Earrings should be minute in nature, and tiny, non-glittery/non-shiny tops are the best option available. The colors Gold/Silver look amazingly elegant and decent. You can wear a decent bracelet too of a neutral color. Brown looks good in bracelets.
Anklets are not advised at all for a classy look, and if you’re wearing a ring it should be a subtle one that you can wear every day, and should be thin enough. I would advise only wearing it on the middle or ring finger as they give off a very elegant vibe. If you’re wearing a necklace, make sure it isn’t too long, and isn’t as short as a choker (lose the chokers, guys.) A lettered or a symbolic necklace like an infinity one or a star one is ideal for regular wear.
9. Accessories – Headwear
Summer hats, and caps etc. are always going to be negative in this case as they don’t look very elegant. However if you observe the hijab or cover your head, then you can always pull it off.
You just need to make sure that the hijab you’re wearing is of the right material and color-coordinates with the rest of your outfit. For simple covering, a complementing dupatta will always work best. If you don’t have a matching one, you can always take up a color that is found in the design of the rest of the outfit.
10. Accessories – Outer wear
Some people like to invest in their outer wear and it is completely fine. A good coat can do wonders to your overall look and a belt over your plain shirt can make a boring outfit very interesting to look at. Other than this scarves are really important to consider when wearing an outfit that looks a bit incomplete. Sometimes it can give you all the decency you need.
However, crazy or bold belts are again not advised. But rather a more decent texture is suggested over plain white or monochrome shirts.
11. Accessories – Purses
If there is not much to carry around, opt for a purse rather than a handbag, but again make sure that the purse isn’t too glittery or of a shocking or bold color. Purses should be medium in size and should have a relatively longer strap than regular handbags.
If you’re going for an even smaller version, it is recommended that you go for a clutch that can hold your cellphone and money and some more minute things. Clutches would look better with an elegant and classy outfit.
12. Accessories – Handbags
Everyone needs to carry a handbag. It is a necessity. But you need to be sure it is a representable one.
Baggy handbags are a poor choice and so are extremely short ones with short straps. They look messy and make it look like you’re a messy person as well. The perfect kind of handbag would be of reasonably/medium size, preferable one that can fit and A4 sized paper in length, and in breadth. The more depth in this size, the better. Other than this, always make sure that the bag you’re carrying has a shoulder strap or if not the strap should be long enough to give you convenient arm space. Neutral colors are appreciated and should complement your shoes.
13. Shoes – Statement Slippers
Guess what is in fashion these day? Statement slippers.
Everyone is wearing them and rocking them! These somewhat pricey shoes with simple designs are taking over the world. They look perfectly decent and elegant to wear and go well with plain, and light-colored floral prints. Ideal colors for these are black, grey, and a very light silver and golden. Definitely something to consider.
14. Shoes – Colors
Be it a workplace or an educational institute, pumps are the best thing to wear along with slippers, but the main problem arises when the colors you wear are too bright, or too colorful.
Shoe colors should always be complementary to almost every outfit you own, and should always be in neutral tones, like beige, shades of nude, black, or white (white shoes need a ton of maintenance though, and should only be considered if you’re ready for that kind of commitment). So go ahead and invest in a comfortable, simple, neutral-colored pair of pumps and be classy all day.
Note: Never wear glitter shoes for an elegant and classy look.
15. Shoes – Heels
Heels look undoubtedly professional but if you want to look elegant and classy every single day then I’m sorry but heels are a huge no! Wearing them all day can provide you with adverse effects and health and structure problems.
Heels are something you wear at an event, or a party or a conference, and it is not something you would want to endorse in every day outer wear. It is advisable that you completely avoid them for an elegant look.
16. Dressing – Fitting
A very important point to keep in mind. Please make sure that the dress or top or bottom you’re wearing is the right fit for you and doesn’t look off. Many people have been seen wearing sizes that are too big or too small for them, which usually looks like you’re trying too hard to pull off someone else’s outfit.
Whenever you buy an outfit or get it stitched, make sure the size is right, and is perfect for you. Look elegantly flawless guys!
17. Dressing – Printed vs. Plain
We’re all in the dilemma of what looks classier, printed or plain wear. Guess what? Both of them work! If you want to look elegant and classy every day, you can wear both stuff but again the rule of alternatives apply like it did in the previous point. Light-colored floral and other prints look really good with plain bottoms, while a plain top can often go really well with printed tights or pants.
Plain tops can complement plain bottoms as well, but they need to be color-coordinated for that. So better keep the combos in mind, ladies!
18. Dressing – Loose vs. Tight Clothing
We’re all fans of wearing lose shirts these days, but let’s be honest, too much loose clothing can give off the idea that you just got out from the bed. The best way to counter this problem could be alternate it with a tight bottom.
If you’re wearing a tight upper, better carry it with a loose bottom. All tight clothing could send off a different vibe, and even if it gives off a classy aura, the elegance doesn’t show. So it’s best to keep alternating the top and the bottom.
19. Dressing – Horizontal vs. Vertical Prints
Various prints and designs are available. People often wear horizontal and vertical stripes which are ill-advised for particular body types (Not fat-shaming guys, but everyone needs to carry themselves). If your body shape is broad from the shoulders and the waist, you should go for vertical striped shirts as they complementthe entire structure, whereas if you’re skinny, go for horizontal stripes, as they will complement your body type.
Important Note: Do NOT under any circumstances wear stripes in both the upper and lower wear. If you’re going to do that, wear a striped jumpsuit with the same stripes. (I have seen people do the opposite and it does not look good, trust me on this).
20. Dressing – Short vs. Long
The first thing that people notice about you is not your face but how you’re dressed up as. Dressing can make a person completely change the perspective he/she gives to other people, so it is advisable to dress as well as possible.
The most common debate among ladies is if you should wear long dresses or short ones. Here’s the thing, long dressing is an absolute NO for an everyday look. It can be irritable when you’re trying to work or even go out in an inappropriate weather, so go for short ones, or if you’re talking long, knee-length is the maximum you should opt for with proper material beneath it.
